Alkebulan Art Center
Welcome to African art, the original art of humankind
The origin of man, and art itself, can be traced back to The Continent. We recognize Alkebulan*, meaning mother of mankind, as the indigenous reference to the continent Africa prior to European occupation.
*According to Senegalese Historian Dr. Chikh Anta Diop in Kemetic History of Africa
Reflected to us through blacksmithing, woodworking, beading, and various other skills, are mankind's contemplations of Creation. African art encapsulates longevity, craftsmanship, storytelling, and the mysticism of the mind. Within the art you will find themes of birth and death, ancestral veneration, spirituality and the magic of life's mundane activities.
